Aging in Place with Alliance’s Virtual Assisted Living

According to a study by AARP1, an overwhelming number of adults 65+ (87 percent) wish to stay in their current home and community as they age. Care Bearz Home Health has taken the next step to greatly improve the lives and experiences of those choosing to age in place with a new in-home technology platform.

Care Bearz Home Health’s Virtual Assisted Living (VAL) tablet and its proprietary technology builds a bridge between our clients, their families (who are often remotely managing the situation), our internal RNs and Care Managers, and their physician network. Named for Alliance co-founder and CEO Greg Solometo’s grandmother, Valma, VAL enables families to stay connected with the entire care team 24/7 in real time with phone, video and messaging capabilities.

The VAL tablet includes a caregiver check-in/check-out, the ability to view documents and care plans, and allows caregivers to track their client’s daily mood, pain, sleep and appetite. Other features include PERS (personal emergency response system), medication management, and vital sign checking to a dashboard that supports physician visits and remote family access.

In addition to important safety features, VAL provides informative and entertaining content that can be customized to each client’s needs and interests. Using the tablet, clients are able to visit favorite websites; watch wellness programming; do basic exercises; access family photos; watch movies on Netflix; read books on Kindle; and listen to favorites like Frank Sinatra or Benny Goodman through Pandora.

All Alliance caregivers are being trained to help facilitate VAL as the tablet will be introduced into more than 100 client homes over the summer of 2018. All new, long-term admissions will receive this technology offering going forward.

Care Bearz Home Health is committed to providing comprehensive quality, holistic and collaborative care. If you or someone you love could benefit from our services, call (877) 687-7380 to speak with an expert Care Manager today.
